TERMS & GUIDANCE
Kimono Dressing & Rental Terms
Kimono Dressing Experience and Rental Terms
Article 1 — Scope
1. These terms apply to kimono dressing and rental (the “Service”) provided by Paddle Co., Ltd. (Suita Biyori; the “Operator”) at Senrian in the Japanese Garden of Expo ’70 Commemorative Park.
2. Before applying, review and agree to these terms and the prices, dates and cancellation conditions on the booking form. Follow park rules and safety instructions from facility management.
Article 2 — Reservations, walk-ins and prices
1. Advance bookings are accepted through the official booking form until capacity is reached. The reserved time is the start of dressing. A booking is established when the Operator completes acceptance and confirms the reservation.
2. Walk-ins are accepted only during operating hours on scheduled service days when a place is available. Ask the reception desk inside Senrian about availability and times.
3. Available times are shown on the booking form. Each booking is for one person. Groups must book available times separately for each guest. The Service is primarily for adults; contact us beforehand about sizes and children. Minors must obtain a legal guardian’s consent.
4. The fee per person is ¥2,000 for dressing and ¥2,000 for a 2-hour kimono and accessories rental. Park admission is separate. Extensions cost ¥500 per person per 30 minutes and are added only with prior agreement.
Article 3 — Check-in, dressing and late arrival
1. Arrive at reception inside Senrian at least 5 minutes before your reserved time. Booking verification and luggage check take place before dressing and are not included in the approximately 30-minute dressing time.
2. Contact the Operator promptly if you will be late. Depending on other bookings, your time may need to change or the Service may be unavailable. If you are 15 minutes late without contacting us, your place may be released to someone else.
3. Arriving late does not extend the 16:00 return deadline. If you can no longer participate, fees are governed by Article 10. Check-in or dressing delays attributable to the Operator will not be treated as lateness by the guest.
Article 4 — Rental period, permitted area and return procedure
1. Each guest’s 2-hour rental starts when dressing is complete and the items are handed over. It includes the journey back. Short afternoon plans that do not allow the full 2 hours will not be sold until their conditions have been approved and displayed.
2. While wearing the kimono, remain within the Japanese Garden. You may not enter the Natural and Cultural Gardens, leave the park, take rented items home or lend them to others. Combining the Service with photography or a rickshaw ride does not extend these deadlines.
3. Return to Senrian with every rented item, including those you are wearing, and notify reception by 16:00. This is the “return deadline”. You do not need to have finished changing out of the kimono by 16:00.
4. After arrival, allow 20 minutes per person for general operations staff to check returns, assist with changing arrangements and return luggage. A staff member and changing room will be reserved even after the dressing specialist’s shift ends. Collect your luggage and leave Senrian by 16:30, when it closes.
5. If reception is busy, tell a staff member when you arrive. The Operator will record the actual arrival time. Waiting for reception, a changing area or a return check does not incur a late-return charge.
Article 5 — Extensions and late returns
1. Use beyond 2 hours costs ¥500 per person for each 30 minutes. Extensions require agreement to the time and fee, availability and compliance with closing time. Use after closing is not permitted.
2. The actual time you report your return is recorded as the end of use. Waiting for a changing room or staff after returning is not included in extension charges.
3. Emergencies and delays attributable to the Operator will be discussed individually. The common cancellation policy applies to no-shows. No additional penalty that was not displayed when booking will be charged.
Article 6 — If you cannot return items the same day
1. Contact us immediately if same-day return is difficult. Confirm the return method and deadline with the Operator and follow its instructions. There is no next-day-return rental plan.
2. If circumstances attributable to the guest require collection or return shipping, necessary and reasonable actual costs may be charged. The same expense will not be charged twice.
3. If items remain unreturned after reminders and a reasonable deadline, the Operator will confirm the circumstances and address any damage to rented items under Article 7.
Article 7 — Soiling, damage and loss
1. Check the types, quantities and condition of rented items with staff at collection and return. Report any existing damage or stains before leaving.
2. No additional charge is made for minor soiling from normal use, stains removable through ordinary cleaning, wear over time or damage that existed at collection.
3. If intentional acts or negligence cause loss or damage or soiling that ordinary care cannot remedy, reasonable costs of special cleaning or repair may be charged. For loss or irreparable damage, the amount is based on the item’s age, condition and reasonable value, rather than automatically charging its new purchase price.
4. Before charging, the Operator will explain the damage, why the guest is responsible and the basis of calculation, such as a repair estimate. Repair costs and total-loss value will not both be charged for the same damage, nor will amounts already covered by insurance be recovered twice.
5. Promptly report soiling, damage or loss to Senrian reception or the day-of contact. Do not wash, remove stains or repair items yourself; follow staff guidance. No uniform penalty is charged solely because an incident occurred.
Article 8 — Luggage and valuables
1. Clothing and hand luggage associated with use of the Service may be stored on request within available space. Large, fragile, dangerous or otherwise unsuitable items may be refused.
2. We do not store cash, wallets, cards, smartphones, cameras, jewellery, passports or other valuables. Remove these from your luggage and keep them with you.
3. Hand luggage directly to staff. The Operator uses claim numbers or similar records and verifies ownership at collection. Collect your luggage by 16:30 that day.
4. The Operator is not liable for loss, theft or damage to luggage or valuables arising from circumstances for which it is not responsible. Where damage is attributable to intentional acts, negligence or other fault of the Operator or persons engaged in the Service, liability is determined by applicable law.
Article 9 — Safety and restrictions
1. Tell staff if clothing or footwear is defective, if you are concerned about tightness or if you feel unwell. Do not push yourself. Keep your day-of contact details with you so that you can be reached during use.
2. Do not enter restricted areas, behave dangerously, disturb other visitors or do anything likely to seriously soil or damage rented items. The Operator may refuse or stop the Service if safe provision is difficult or dangerous or disruptive behaviour continues after a warning.
3. Promptly report displaced clothing, soiling, damage, loss or an expected late return. In an emergency, prioritise physical safety and notify nearby staff.
Article 10 — Changes and cancellations
1. Customer-requested changes and cancellations are subject to the cancellation policy shown when applying. Contact methods, deadlines, fees and refund conditions are displayed before booking.
2. The conditions shown at booking also apply if a no-show or late arrival prevents use. Cancellation or administration fees not disclosed at booking will not be added after use.
3. Cancellation fees will not exceed the average loss caused to the Operator by cancellation as provided under the Consumer Contract Act. A summary of the calculation will be explained on request.
4. If you choose to end your walk early, a refund based on unused time is generally not available, except for faults or cancellation attributable to the Operator or where a refund is required by law.
Article 11 — Rain, cancellation and changes by the Operator
1. Dressing takes place indoors and normally runs in rain. However, severe weather, lightning, park conditions, facility restrictions or other safety reasons may limit outdoor walking or cause the Service to be cancelled or changed.
2. Once a cancellation or change is decided, official information will be updated and booked guests contacted using their registered details. A blanket “10:00 decision on the day”, as may apply to rickshaws, does not apply to kimono dressing; decisions will be made as needed.
3. If the Operator cancels the Service before it starts, the full Service fee paid will be refunded with no cancellation charge.
4. If a significant change occurs before the Service starts, such as outdoor walking being unavailable, we will explain it. If the guest does not wish to use the changed Service, the booking may be cancelled without a cancellation fee and the full Service fee refunded.
5. If the Operator interrupts or ends the Service after it starts, the refund will be calculated with reference to dressing and rental already provided, unprovided elements and remaining usable time, and the basis will be explained. A full refund will be considered where the purpose of use could not be achieved. If an Operator-caused delay seriously affects use, alternative times or refunds will also be discussed.
6. If the Service is running normally and the guest chooses to cancel due to rain, Article 10 applies.
Article 12 — Refund methods and procedure
1. Online payments are normally refunded to the original payment method. If that is not possible, or payment was in cash, a refund will be made in cash or by an agreed bank transfer or other method.
2. Once the refundable amount and necessary information are confirmed, the Operator normally processes the refund within 7 business days. Actual receipt and posting to card statements depend on the payment provider. The planned processing date and expected reflection time will be communicated individually.
3. For a full refund due to an Operator cancellation or significant change, no refund handling fee is deducted from the Service fee. Bundles with photography or other services are settled according to the breakdown and refund conditions shown at booking.
4. Park admission, travel, parking and other costs outside this Service are not included in this refund procedure. This does not exempt the Operator from liability for damages under applicable law.
Article 13 — Operator responsibility
1. If a guest suffers damage attributable to intentional acts, negligence or other fault of the Operator or persons engaged in the Service, the Operator is liable in accordance with applicable law.
2. These terms do not unfairly restrict statutory rights to cancellation, refunds or damages.
Article 14 — Personal information and photographs
1. Names, contact details and other information collected for booking and check-in are used as necessary for reservation confirmation, day-of contact, safety management, payment, refunds and enquiries, and are managed appropriately. See the privacy policy provided before booking for details.
2. Information shared with facility management or others for safety purposes is limited to what is necessary and complies with law. Separate consent is sought before publishing a guest’s likeness in advertising or on social media. Agreement to these terms alone is not consent to such publication.
Article 15 — Applicable conditions, law and consultation
1. Confirmed guests are generally subject to the terms and prices presented when their booking was confirmed. Disadvantageous conditions will not be added later without consent. Legally required changes or necessary safety measures may be implemented with appropriate notice.
2. Japanese law applies. If part of these terms is invalid under law, the remaining provisions remain effective. Matters not covered, or questions about these terms, will be discussed in good faith in accordance with applicable law.
